heCast Episode 177: Lawrence Harris on Self-Doubt, Men’s Mental Health, and Taking Ownership

About this episode

Episode 177 of heCast features Lawrence Harris in an honest conversation about self-doubt, men’s mental health, identity, and learning to take ownership of the direction your life is heading.

Lawrence is a youth empowerment speaker and self-published author whose work focuses on helping teens and young adults build healthier decision-making skills, challenge the way they see themselves, and recognize that their past does not have to determine their future.

In this episode, Lawrence opens up about his own experiences with bullying, trauma, and growing up in a difficult home environment, as well as the work he has done to better understand and manage his mental health. He and Mike Chisholm talk about therapy, journaling, meditation, self-awareness, and why real change requires more than motivation — it requires action.

They also explore the pressure many boys and men feel to hide what they are going through, why worth can become tied to money, status, or the ability to provide, and Lawrence’s perspective on what it should really mean to “man up.” The conversation looks at the challenges facing young men today, including comparison, social media, identity, and the need for healthier examples of masculinity.

This episode is for men of any age who have struggled with self-doubt, felt pressure to appear like everything is fine, or are trying to take greater ownership of their mental health and the life they want to build.
